Chairman's Letter
Dear Fliers
The new outdoor flying season will be upon us by the time the next lot of glue dries so I would like to pass on to you a few items that we talked about at the Scale Tech. Meeting.
Most flyers use a 'caller' while flying and we would like to ask all flyers, particularly at sites where the public have access, to use a caller or lookout. While the judges may notice if there people wandering around, they are more likely to have their eyes in the air on the model. The sites we are partic41arly concerned about are Pontefract & Bulford, both sites where the public have access, but it does apply to all others. Please ask your caller not only to tell you what the next manoeuvre is but also to keep a lookout for any 'strays'.
Late arrivals at Sunday meetings do cause additional administration work; the flying order is sorted out and listed on the big score board by about 9.45 am only to have this altered as late arrivals come along. It gives flyers a higher level of safety comfort if they know that all the transmitters are in one place before flying starts so if you can make it before flying starts it would be appreciated.
We are considering holding a flying training session for team members and potential team members. It would take the form of flying only with 'judges' giving guidance on how to make improvements. We will go ahead if we have enough people who feel they could benefit from attending (and also getting a suitable flying site). If you are interested please let me know - we may have to put a limit on numbers. There could be some funds available to cover travelling expenses.
Don't forget to set you failsafe! - low throttle on loss of signal.
Good luck for the coming season.
