AUGUST SCALE OUTDOOR NATIONALS 2007

We are again running three classes at the R/C Nats this year, F4C, Clubman and Flying Only. The Clubman event has been closely contested in recent years and as usual is open to those who have not won a Nationals class in the last 10 years.

Static Judging. The problem of fair judging for ARTF’s (or part ARTF’s) remains. F4C and Clubman are intended as events for flying and building of scale models and we are asking that models which have some or all major components ready made (or built by somebody else) enter the Flying Only class. It is not fair to ask the static judges to spend time judging somebody else’s workmanship!

Competitors Declaration. All competitors at the Nats will need to sign the Declaration Form which says that you are the builder of the model (except for Flying Only) and that no gyros, etc are fitted. I already have the forms for regular competitors; otherwise you will get a form to sign with your entry information.

Options.

General, and Non-aerobatic. Non-aerobatic types may select from the 6 non-aerobatic manoeuvres if they wish. Other aircraft will be down-marked by two marks for each non-aerobatic manoeuvre selected. Non-aerobatic types are largely defined in the rule book (bombers, touring aircraft, etc), but the Technical Committee will decide on borderline cases. If you are claiming non-aerobatic status this needs to go on the Competitors Declaration, with documentary evidence if the type is not covered by the list in the rules. So far the committee has only had to rule on Sopwith 11/2 Strutters, which we decided were not non-aerobatic.

Legal Models. All models will be weighed (15 kg limit) and fail-safes checked for correct operation when the Tx is switched off at the end of a flight.
